BOISE — Police say a man involved in a Saturday night shooting has died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Officers were called out to reports of shots fired just after 11 p.m. in the area of North 32nd and Hill Road.

According to Boise Police spokeswoman Haley Williams, a witness reported seeing the man firing his gun into the air and the ground. He did not appear to be aiming at anyone or anything in particular, she said.

As officers arrived in the area, the man turned the gun on himself, police said.

He was rushed to a Boise hospital with life-threatening injuries, and later died. The man's name has not yet been released by the Ada County Coroner's Office.

Detectives are investigating and victim-witness coordinators are providing support services to witnesses.
