BOISE -- Wednesday, The Idaho Office of Emergency Management is hosting a full-scale training exercise at Borah High School in Boise.

Participants in the exercise include the Boise Police Department, Boise Fire Department, and Ada County Paramedics.

The agencies working the exercise are focused on an active assailant incident.

The training is being done in coordination with the Transportation Security Administration and the Idaho Transportation Department to help first responders develop their skills and tactics when it comes to incidents like an active shooter.

"It gives you an opportunity to evaluate your performance and think, you know what, we can improve there, or we didn't think "this" would happen or let's adjust for a particular response that we have," said Elizabeth Duncan, public affairs officer, IOEM.

People in the area of Borah High School will likely notice an increased law enforcement presence.

Again, the heavy police activity at Borah High School Wednesday is just a training that is set to wrap up at about 3pm.
