Deaf 'America's Got Talent' singer shares inspirational story in Boise

Mandy Harvey is now touring the Northwest as a singer, songwriter and inspirational speaker.

BOISE - Deaf "America's Got Talent" star Mandy Harvey performed in Boise on Tuesday night.

Harvey finished in fourth place in season 12 last year. Judge Simon Cowell said of her performance: "Reminds me of the first time I heard Adele sing."

Harvey is now touring the Northwest as a singer, songwriter and inspirational speaker. She lost her residual hearing at 19.

She was at the Sapphire Room to perform and share her inspirational story of never giving up.

"I grew up with a really strong love of music," Harvey said. "For me it was my way to express myself and my full identity. So growing up also slightly hard of hearing and having all these medical issues I was very terrified of losing my hearing, and when it happened it was my worst fear come to life,"

With support from friends, family and her faith, Mandy continues to find joy in music.

Proceeds from Mandy's concert will benefit the Idaho Jazz Education Endowment for scholarships.
