Update: Two dead after plane crash near Johnson Creek Airstrip in Yellow Pine

Two people were killed but police have not released their names. The crash also started a fire that was quickly put out.

YELLOW PINE, Idaho — The Valley County Sheriff has confirmed there are no survivors from a plane crash that happened near Johnson Creek Airstrip in Yellow Pine. Two people were killed but police have not released their identities. 

Sheriff Kevin Copperi said the crash happened on Aug. 29 around 3:40 p.m. The plane was a single engine aircraft. A fire was also started from the crash.

"The fire was fought by Yellow Pine Fire Department immediately.  The Forest Service sent engines, crews, and a helicopter to control the spreading fire.  These efforts were successful and the fire is out," Sheriff Copperi said.

The Yellow Pine Fire District said the fire was quickly put out due to strategic coordination.

Yesterday afternoon, the Yellow Pine Fire Department responded to a plane crash one mile south of Johnson Creek Airport....
