Treasure Valley superhero fans line up to watch premiere of final 'Avengers' movie

"Avengers: Endgame" is the final installment in the "Avengers" movie franchise, and fans filled local theaters on Thursday to see how the series will end.

BOISE, Idaho — It's the end of an era for many Marvel superhero fans as the final "Avengers" movie of the series hit theaters Thursday night.

"Avengers: Endgame" is the final installment of the "Avengers" series which started in 2012. It also wraps up several other Marvel movie series spanning 11 years, including the "Captain America" and "Iron Man" franchises.

So far, "Avengers: Endgame" is already on track to shatter box office records. According to ticket-selling site Fandango, it's already sold five times the number of tickets in presales to "Endgame" than it did to "Avengers: Infinity War" - which left fans with a major cliffhanger in 2018.

Fans of the franchise said it's bittersweet to see the "Avengers" franchise come to an end but doesn't make the final movie any less exciting.

"I'm really excited and also really nervous," said John Wongratanamajcha, who came with a group of friends. "I'm also kind of sad because man, I've been watching this ever since the beginning so this is going to be very nostalgic for sure."

Joshua Anderson said he and several of his friends watched all the previous Marvel movies in preparation for the final installment.

"It's going to be a happy-sad feeling for sure," Anderson said. "It's going to be a culmination of things and really I think the perfect ending would be if you walk out of the theater and you're just silent, because you're just satisfied."

Micah Nebeker said he's just excited to see how Marvel ends the "Avengers" franchise.

"I've read all the comics, I've watched the cartoons growing up and I don't know, seeing it come to life on the big screen is really cool – kind of like a dream come true," he said.

Alex Donahue, who has also seen all the Marvel movies, said his expectations for the last "Avengers" movie are high.

"On one hand I'm so excited out of my mind," he said. "On the other hand, little sad because what am I going to have to look forward to after this?"

Never fear, Marvel fans. Many of the popular characters featured in the "Avengers" movies will return. The Marvel Cinematic Universe, which encompasses a total of 22 films so far, already has several new installments to the series in the works, including sequels to "Black Panther," "Guardians of the Galaxy," and "Dr. Strange."

To date, "Avengers: Endgame" is the longest Marvel movie with a runtime of 3 hours, 58 seconds.
