PYEONGCHANG - Chase Josey will compete for a medal Tuesday in the men's snowboard halfpipe. The Hailey native nailed his second run in qualifying, securing his spot in the finals.
Josey needed a great run after he caught the lip of the pipe during his first run, and he pulled it off, picking up a score of 83.75, good enough for 7th place.
The top 12 qualifiers move on to the final round.
The first-time Olympian was one of four Americans to qualify for the finals, including two-time gold medalist Shaun White - who grabbed first place in qualifying with a stellar second run - and Ben Ferguson who was born in Boise and lives in Bend, Oregon.
Josey and the rest of Team USA will compete for Olympic gold Tuesday night. You can watch all the action live starting at 6:30 p.m. on KTVB and online here.
The city of Ketchum is hosting a watch party Tuesday at 5 p.m. in Town Square.
