Man with gun arrested after hiding in shed in Boise's North End

The Boise Police Department said the man ran from police with a gun in hand and hid in a shed on the 2200 block of Hill Road.

BOISE, Idaho — A man was arrested Tuesday following a shelter-in-place alert in the North End.

Officers chased a man with a gun in the 2200 block of Hill Road near N Lancaster Drive, according to the Boise Police Department

Boise police said around 5 p.m. they were investigating a call about a suspicious vehicle and attempted to pull over a car. A man got out of the car and ran from police and into a backyard shed.

Police said while they were chasing the suspect they saw he had a gun in hand. Shortly after, police issued a "Code Red Alert" to residents who live in the area and told them to stay in their homes.

The suspect refused to leave the shed, according to BPD, so a crisis negotiator, K-9 police dog and drone arrived at the scene. After 45 minutes, the man came out of the shed and was arrested without incident.

Boise police said the suspect's gun was recovered at a nearby business parking lot, and they believe he dropped it while running from officers.

Police have not publicly identified the suspect but said charges against him are pending.
