GOLDEN, Colo. — The annual "Goldens in Golden" event returns this weekend for a celebration of one of America's most popular dog breeds.
Humans and their well-behaved golden retrievers are invited to gather in Golden from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
The golden retriever gathering will feature a meet and greet at Parfet Park with pup treats, photo opportunities, pet vendors, and official merchandise.
There will be three opportunities for a group photo near the "Welcome to Golden" arch. The official photos will be taken at 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 12 p.m.
The weather forecast for Saturday calls for rain and snow showers. Event organizers advise attendees to dress accordingly and prepare your dog for wet and snowy conditions.
Golden parking
The City of Golden said event parking is is reserved and attendees should park at the following free lots:
- Clear Creek Parking Lot, located at 304 10th St. - 1.5 Blocks from Parfet Park
- CoorsTek Lot located at 612 10th St. - Adjacent to Parfet Park.
- CSM Lot K located at11th and Maple St. - Short walk East on Clear Creek Trail to Parfet Park
- Other parking:
- City parking garages located on Jackson Street, between 11th and 13th Streets.
- CSM parking garage at 14th and Maple St. (Paid)

- Washington Ave. will be closed to vehicle traffic during the event between 10th St. and 13th St.
Goldens in Golden is held on the Saturday closest to National Golden Retriever Day, Feb. 3, which this year falls on Saturday.
According to U.S. News & World Report, the golden retriever is the most popular dog breed in Colorado. The golden retriever was followed in the hearts of Coloradans by the Chihuahua, Goldendoodle, German Shepard, and French Bulldog.
