Boise County commissioner arrested on stalking charges

Commissioner Alan Ward, who is also the chairman of the Garden Valley School Board, was arrested Thursday and charged with two counts of stalking.

BOISE COUNTY, Idaho — Boise County Commission Chairman Alan Ward was arrested Thursday and charged with two counts of second-degree stalking, a misdemeanor.

Idaho State Police confirmed troopers arrested Ward Thursday morning in Garden Valley and say he was taken into custody without incident.

According to ISP, a warrant was issued for Ward's arrest after an investigation into alleged stalking incidents.

Investigators declined to release any more details about the case, which is under investigation by ISP and the Idaho Attorney General's Office.

KTVB reached out to the AG's office for comment but a spokesperson said it is against policy to comment on pending cases.

Ryan Stirm, another Boise County commissioner, gave this statement to KTVB: "This doesn't reflect on our board as a whole. These are the actions of one individual. Commissioner Ward's actions do not, and should not, reflect on the entire board and I would like people to know that."

Ward is also chairman of the Garden Valley School Board.

KTVB reached out to the superintendent of the school district, as well as several board members for comment, but did not hear back.

According to Idaho Code 59-901, an elected official can be removed from office if convicted of a felony, but the code does not address misdemeanors.

As of Thursday afternoon, Ward had been released on bond from the Ada County Jail.

This is a developing story, check back for updates.
