BOISE, Idaho — Tuesday, July 2 will mark the kick off to the 2019 Boise River float season.
Boise River Raft and Tube rental posted the opening date on its website, as did Ada County Parks and Waterways on its Facebook page.
This comes after members of the Boise Fire Department’s dive team spent the weekend working to get rid of hazards in and around the Boise River.
Fire officials told KTVB they had identified a half dozen places that needed help.
Paul Roberts, Division Chief of Special Operations, said ideally river flows would be around 1,200 cubic feet per second or less before float season starts. The river was flowing at around 1,200 cfs at the Glenwood Bridge gauge on Monday.
Floaters can rent tubes, rafts or kayaks at Barber Park. The cost is dependent on size. All rentals come with life vests.
The rental shack is open from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Fridays, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends and holidays.
There is a shuttle available that takes floaters from Ann Morrison Park to Barber Park. It costs $3. It runs every 20 minutes on the weekend and every hour on weekdays.
And a reminder, to pack out your trash. Glass and alcoholic beverages are not permitted on the river.
