BURNS, Ore. -- A Boise woman was killed when her car was struck head-on on Highway 20 Sunday night.
The crash happened at 9 p.m. near milepost 156 east of Burns, Oregon.
Oregon State Police say James Decou of Roy, Utah was driving west in a Freightliner semi when he tried to get around a slower-moving motorhome by passing it on a double yellow line.
Sara E. Allison, 30, of Boise, was headed east in a Ford Focus. Police say she saw the oncoming semi and swerved toward the ditch to avoid the collision. At the same time, Decou also swerved in the same direction, hitting Allison's car head-on near the fog line.
Allison died at the scene. Her passenger, 27-year-old Matthew Allison of Boise, was taken by air ambulance to Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland. His injuries are considered life-threatening, police say.
Decou was treated for minor injuries at Harney County Hospital.
The wreck blocked Highway 20 for several hours. The investigation is ongoing, and criminal charges are being considered.
