Savvy Women and Money Conference of Idaho drew 750+ women to downtown Boise

The free financial event provides Idaho women the tools to successfully navigate the evolving world of finance.

BOISE, Idaho — The free financial education conference, Savvy Women and Money Conference, designed specifically for Idaho women drew hundreds of attendees to the Boise Centre in downtown on Friday, Feb. 16.

"A more financially-savvy person, woman, helps create a better world," said Savvy Women and Money Conference Director Dini Harris.

More than 750 women were at Friday's event, which boasted an array of professionals and resources designed to assist women with their financial goals. Finance gurus and Idaho Department of Finance (IDOF) staff shared their wit and wisdom about the world of finance and assisted with any questions guests had regarding finance.

"Financial issues affect women in so many ways. It affects our relationships and our households and how we feel about ourselves," Harris said. "And so, giving women that, being able to gift them with that empowerment or those tools so that they can grow through that and have that financial freedom is just a big part of why we do what we do."

A news release from event organizers compared the event to the now-retired annual 'Smart Women, Smart Money Conference,' which had the similar goal of empowering women by providing valuable resources and a supportive community to help reach their financial goals.

"Whether it's from the basics, you know, just getting a good budget in place, or buying their first home, all the way up to advanced investing, estate planning, those types of things," Harris elaborated. "So, we try to have a really great mix of all the types of education that women might need."

The event featured special guest speakers, such as IDACORP CEO Lisa Grow and Idaho Treasurer Julie Ellsworth, among others, emceed by Carolyn Holly.

“A great day to connect with women in the community and offer tools to help them achieve financial success,” Idaho Department of Finance Director Patricia Perkins said.
