Registration is now open for the YMCA Christmas Run.
Create a new tradition or continue a long-standing one! Join in YMCA’s Annual Christmas Run. Celebrate the season with family and friends by running or walking together. This year’s event will take place December 21 in Downtown Boise.
Join the festivities as Santa starts the race, wear your holiday costumes, and enjoy!
The annual Christmas Costume Contest will be held at 9:30 AM prior to the race on the Boise High Cafeteria steps.
Race awards will be announced as soon as available (usually around 11:00 AM) in the Boise High School Cafeteria. Overall distance winners and costume contest winners will receive Holiday Centerpieces from Hillcrest Floral. There will be raffle prizes and more from local partners! The post-event celebration will also include hot coffee and bagels and local food trucks.
Fees and Registration Information (all registration fees include a race t-shirt)
- 1 Mile Reindeer Dash: Open to ages 1-17. $35 + $3.96 sign-up fee
- 2 Mile Run/Walk – YOUTH: Open to ages 1-17. $35 + $3.96 sign-up fee
- 6 Mile Run/Walk – Youth: Open to ages 1-17. $35 + $3.96 sign-up fee
- 1 Mile Reindeer Dash: Open to ages 16-110. $40 + $4.30 sign-up fee
- 2 Mile run/Walk – Adult: Open to ages 16-110. $40 + $4.30 sign-up fee
- 6 Mile Run/Walk – Adult: Open to ages 16-110. $40 + $4.30 sign-up fee
Packet Pick Up:
Packets, including Christmas Run shirt and race number, can be picked up at Boise High School Cafeteria, 1010 W. Washington St. on Friday, December 20 from 4:00-7:00 P.M. The first 1,000 people to pick up their packets will receive Christmas Run gloves.
Race Day packet pickup will be available from 8:30 AM – 9:45 AM in the Boise High School Cafeteria.
If you are unable to pick up your packets, friends can pick it up for you.
Courses & Start Times:
1 Mile Reindeer Dash – 10:00 AM start time; open to ages 1-17 and adults
Head West on Franklin, turn right on 13th, turn around just past Resseguie St. Then go South on 13th St. Turn left on Washington St. to finish.
2 Mile Run – 10:15 AM start time; open to ages 1-17 and adults
Start at Boise High. Go West on Franklin and then turn right on 13th. Head north on 13th and turn around at Heron St. Go south on 13th and turn left on Washington to finish.
6 Mile Run/Walk -- 10:15 AM start time; open to ages 16-110 and adults – includes a strenuous hill from Lemp St. to the Highland View Dr. cutoff
Start West on Franklin Street, then turn right onto 13th. Turn north on 13th. Take a right turn on Lemp Street then turn left on 8th. Go North on 8th/Sunset Park Rd for 1.6 miles. Turn left on Trail connection to Highland View Drive. Turn south on Highland View Drive then left at West Hill Road. Proceed south on 13th. Then turn left on Washington Street to finish.
Volunteer Opportunity:
If you’re not racing but would like to be part of the action, consider volunteering both on and off the course. YMCA is looking for 70 volunteers to make this event a success. Roles include packet pickup, t-shirt distribution, carolers, costume contest, course monitor, event set up and break down, finish line, water station.
