Coroner identifies woman killed in Star Road crash

BOISE, Idaho — The Ada County coroner has released the identity of a Middleton woman killed in a crash at the intersection of Star and Joplin roads Friday afternoon.

Coroner Dotti Owens says 19-year-old Maleeka Yancey died from blunt force trauma due to a motor vehicle collision. Her death has been ruled an accident.

According to the Ada County Sheriff's Office, Yancey was eastbound on Joplin Road when her car collided with a pickup truck headed south of Star Road.

That intersection is a two-way stop. There is no stop sign at Star Road.

Yancey was pronounced dead at the scene.

The female driver of the pickup was taken to a local hospital with unknown injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
