Mohammed Naish was arrested Wednesday after police say he stabbed a man during an altercation in downtown Boise.

A 53-year-old man has been booked into the Ada County Jail after police say he cut and stabbed another man during an altercation in downtown Boise Wednesday afternoon.

Boise police officers were called at about 12:45 p.m. to a reported fight with a knife near the intersection of 8th and Main streets.

Police say 53-year-old Mohammed Naish, who has no known address, had been involved in an argument with another man when Naish pulled out a knife and use it to cut and stab the victim.

Multiple bystanders intervened, police said, including a retired law enforcement deputy who was able to disarm the suspect.

The 46-year-old victim was taken to a Boise hospital where he was treated for serious, but not life-threatening injuries.

Naish was booked into the Ada County Jail on a felony charge of aggravated battery.
