WALLACE, Idaho — The Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office found and cited two men who allegedly placed Patriot Front stickers on downtown Wallace businesses.
KREM 2 News partner the Coeur d’Alene Press said some were found outside on the Masonic Lodge just down the street from the Mountain West bank.
Deputies said both of the men said they are members of Patriot Front. The Mountain West Bank branch manager told KREM 2 they saw the men taking photos of the stickers after placing them on the window.
It is a misdemeanor in Idaho to place promotional material on private property without permission. The two men could face up to a year in county jail and a fine of up to $1,000.
The Wallace community said this hate group and their ideals are not welcome here.
“Did you think you’re gonna get support by just putting stickers on businesses?" resident Emily Zsarko said. "I don’t want stickers of any kind anyway not racist stickers not part of the community. I moved here a couple years ago from LA. I’ve never felt like people are really wanna be exclusionary to anyone.”
KREM 2 also found posts online about a few more Patriot Front images sighted in Cataldo. With help from a local resident who spotted them, KREM was able to track down a poster placed on a power pole west of town.
People in the Cataldo area share the same sentiment that the group and their messaging are not welcome in their community.
