PULLMAN, Wash. — The Moscow man accused of kidnapping his daughter and taking her to Mexico is expected back in court on Thursday.
This comes at the same time an Idaho inmate is expected in court on Thursday also. The inmate is on a murder charge of an elderly Juliaetta, Idaho, man.
Here is a breakdown of each case:
Aaron Aung
Moscow father Aaron Aung is in Whitman County Jail for an international parental kidnapping charge.
According to a federal criminal complaint, the FBI and border control found photos and video of Aung crossing the border on June 1. That was two days after he was supposed to return his daughter to her mother.
U.S. Attorney Vanessa Waldref spoke on how these specific types of cases regarding parents and children are handled compared to others.
"I think these types of cases are where the federal government can bring its resources most effectively to ensure kids are being cared for by kids who love them," Waldref said.
Right now, no one else, including Aung's fiancé, who was also located in Mexico with him, has been charged.
Skylar Meade
An Idaho inmate who escaped police custody from a Boise area hospital is expected to be in court on Thursday for his arraignment.
Nez Perce County Prosecutors said they're seeking the death penalty against Skylar Meade. They accuse him of killing 83-year-old James Mauney after escaping a Boise hospital while receiving treatment. Meade is also linked to the murder of 72-year-old Don Henderson from Orofino.
In Aung's case, he is expected to be in court on Thursday for what consists of a detention hearing, a preliminary hearing and a status heading.
Meade faces an arraignment on Thursday.
