CALDWELL, Idaho — The Caldwell Police Department (CPD) said an active search is underway for a man who shot into a car in Caldwell Friday night, injuring a woman, and later shot at Nampa Police on Saturday night when officers attempted a stop. CPD said he is armed and dangerous and was last seen in Nampa.
Police said 25-year-old Anthony Erasmo Madrid of Nampa has a handgun, brown hair and eyes, is 180 pounds and 5'8", with a tattoo of "EST 1998" on his lower left arm. He was last seen walking around the 1800 block 3rd St. N. in Nampa, wearing a black shirt and blue jeans. CPD said he is a parolee and a "known, documented gang member."
Madrid shot into a car near Indiana and Ustick after a possible road rage incident on Friday, Feb. 16 around 10:30 p.m. There were two adults and a child in the car. The woman was shot in the chest and has non-life-threatening injuries. Madrid was driving a red Volkswagen Passat.
Nampa Police said they found Madrid's car around 10:50 pm., on Saturday, Feb. 17. Police said after a short chase, the suspect crashed the car, ran, and shot at them. Officers did not shoot back; they searched the area but could not find Madrid.
