Ada County Sherriff's Office arrests teen e-bike rider, charges another

The office reported that one of the 15-year-old riders was arrested, and another was charged after they both fled from police.

BOISE, Idaho — Two 15-year-old teens are facing charges after fleeing from police on e-bikes over several weeks earlier in June.

According to the Ada County Sheriff's Office (ACSO), the Eagle Police Department received reports of e-bike riders riding recklessly through the city and Guerber Park during an active soccer game. Eagle police officers attempted to speak with the riders but said they couldn't catch them and rode off.

ACSO said on Thursday, June 18, an Ada County deputy saw two e-bike riders who matched the description, and when approached they fled in separate directions.

Later, an Eagle police officer found one of the teens on North Horseshoe Road. When they tried to stop them, the rider gave the officer "the finger" and rode off, breaking several posted speed limits. The officer managed to pull over one of the riders and arrested him. It was revealed that the rider is a 15-year-old who does not have a license.

Authorities launched a drone to locate the other rider, who was seen driving over 100 graves at Dry Creek Cemetery. The rider continued to ride recklessly across lanes on Highway 55.

The rider was later identified the rider as a 15-year-old boy. The sheriff's office stated that charges have been forwarded to the Ada County Juvenile Prosecutor's Office for review.
