Angie Harmon says delivery driver shot, killed her dog outside North Carolina home

"He got out of his car, delivered the food & THEN shot our dog," she wrote.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A dog belonging to actor Angie Harmon was shot and killed outside her Charlotte home this weekend, the former Law & Order star said on social media Monday.

"We are completely traumatized & beyond devastated at the loss of our beloved boy & family member," Harmon wrote on Instagram.

In her post, Harmon says a person making an Instacart delivery to her home shot and killed their precious Oliver.

"He got out of his car, delivered the food & THEN shot our dog," she wrote.

The Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department responded to the home. Writing on social media, Harmon says the police let him go because he claimed self-defense.

A police report filed by a CMPD officer after the incident classifies the event as "non-criminal." The documentation does not detail what may have occurred but does reference the recovery of a shell casing.

"He did not have a scratch or a bite on him," Harmon wrote on social media, describing the delivery person.

"We were deeply saddened and disturbed to hear about this incident. We have no tolerance for violence of any kind, and the shopper account was immediately suspended from our platform," an Instacart spokesperson told WCNC Charlotte referencing the suspension of the delivery person's account. "We have been in direct contact with the customer and are cooperating with law enforcement on their investigation."

Instacart's policies do allow the company to deactivate a delivery person's account if that person acts in a violent or aggressive manner, including the carrying of a weapon. Their policies also prohibit individuals who are not authorized by the company from making deliveries.

Harmon wrote the person who made the delivery was not the same person identified by the Instacart app as the intended driver.

Harmon said her security camera did not record the event because it was inside charging.

Harmon has appeared on television shows including NBC's Law & Order and played one of the title characters in Rizzoli & Isles. Harmon moved to Charlotte, North Carolina in 2010.
