CALDWELL -- A Nampa man linked to a triple stabbing that left one man dead on Christmas Eve appeared in court Friday.
Edgar Covarrubias, 20, turned himself in to police Thursday night, nearly a month after being indicted on charges of second-degree murder and two counts of aggravated battery, as well as possible sentencing enhancements for using a deadly weapon, inflicting great bodily harm and being a member of a gang.
Also indicted on the same charges were 19-year-old Jacob Hernandez and 19-year-old Gustavo Rodriguez, both of Caldwell. A fourth suspect, 23-year-old Gilberto Garza of Caldwell is charged with aiding and abetting second-degree murder, and two counts of aiding and abetting aggravated battery.
Hernandez, Rodriguez and Garza all remain in custody.
The stabbing happened during a fight outside an apartment on Rice Lane in Caldwell. Police say the fight was between rival gang members. Three men, including 22-year-old Ricky Sedano, were stabbed during the melee. Sedano died on the way to the hospital.
A judge set bail for Covarrubias at $1 million. He is due back in court May 22.
