BOISE, Idaho — Boise State University cornerback Jaylen Clark was booked into the Ada County Jail on Wednesday evening, accused of committing four violent crimes.
According to the Ada County arrests page, 21-year-old Clark had warrants out for his arrest for two felonies and two misdemeanors, including attempted strangulation, aggravated assault, battery and false imprisonment.
A Boise Police Department (BPD) spokesperson told KTVB they asked the Ada County Prosecutors Office for a warrant following a domestic battery investigation.
On Dec. 17, 2023, BPD said they responded to the Ada County Sheriff’s Office for a domestic battery report. Police said on July 28 of last year, Clark became physically violent with a woman and tried to strangle her after they got in a verbal fight. The woman tried to leave the home but Clark stopped her, grabbed a knife and chased her. After Clark left, authorities said the victim was able to leave.
The domestic battery report was made the day after the Broncos football team played in the LA Bowl against UCLA.
Clark made his first court appearance on Thursday via video. During his arraignment, a judge set his bond at $25,000 and issued a no contact order. Clark's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 25.
KTVB Sports Director Jay Tust received the following statement from Boise State Athletics:
Boise State is aware of the situation and Jaylen Clark has been suspended indefinitely from all team activities as we follow department, university and Title IX policies.
Clark, a senior played in all 14 games for the Broncos during the 2023 season, logging 13 starts. He finished with a career-high 54 tackles, 2.0 tackles-for-loss and an interception.
