TWIN FALLS -- A weatherman at a Twin Falls television station is accused of rape after police say he sexually assaulted a woman after inviting her back to his apartment.
Jack Holland, 23, was arrested Saturday morning after a woman reported he had raped her after she went on a date with him Friday night. According to the victim, she and Holland went out to Elevation 486 in Twin Falls. After the woman had several drinks, she told Holland she wanted to get some food because she was feeling the effects of the alcohol.
Holland, who works as a meteorologist at KMVT, invited the woman back to his home at the Rivercrest Apartments for dinner, according to court documents. The woman told officers that once she was inside Holland's apartment, he gave her a glass of whiskey.
The victim said she told Holland she did not feel well and laid on the couch. A short time later, the woman told police, the suspect reached up her dress and removed her underwear.
The woman told Holland she did not want to have sex, but he led her down the hall to his bedroom and raped her, she said. The victim told police she repeatedly told Holland she did not want to have sex, and tried to stop him by scratching and biting him, but said he blocked her movements and put his hand on her throat.
After the assualt, the woman said, she left the apartment and called police. The officer who interviewed her, Charles Van Vooren Jr., described the woman as "extremely distraught."
Officers returned to Holland's apartment in the early hours of Saturday morning with a search warrant. Police gathered evidence from the apartment and took Holland into custody.
He was booked into the Twin Falls County Jail on a felony rape charge. If convicted, he could face up to life in prison.
Holland has been placed on leave from his job at KMVT. The station's general manager released the following statement:
“We are reviewing the information provided to us by the court about Mr. Holland’s arrest and charge. We take the allegations seriously, and we will follow this situation and report on it as we would any similar case.”
