PORTLAND, Ore. — A man from La Grande who sexually abused and transported two minors from Washington that he met on Snapchat was sentenced to more than 12 years in federal prison Wednesday.
On Aug. 8, 2022, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of two minors abandoned at Barton Park in Boring. The minors, two 15-year-old girls, told deputies they met Albert Wayne Johnson, 42, on Snapchat, reported AP.
Johnson had driven them from Washington through Idaho and into Oregon. Along the way, he had sexually abused them, according to court documents. At a stop in Othello, Washington, Johnson had sexually abused them in a motel and one of them at a campground near La Grande.
After arriving in Boring, Johnson left the girls at a campsite in Barton Park and never returned.
On Aug. 30, 2022, La Grande Police Department, Union County Sheriff’s Office, Union County Probation Department and Umatilla Tribal Police Department located Johnson at his residence in La Grande and arrested him on an outstanding parole violation warrant. Surveillance video from the motel in Othello showed him with the two girls, documents said.
In January, Johnson pled guilty to transporting a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity. He has been sentenced to 12-and-a-half years in prison and 10 years' supervised release.
