BOISE, Idaho — Three of the four people charged with brutalizing a woman with a rock, knife and broken bottle in the Boise foothills appeared in court Thursday morning.
Twenty-one-year-old Brianna Brown, 30-year-old Cody Baker, and 20-year-old Justice Bowie all agreed to have their preliminary hearing in the case pushed back. Kevin Ivey, 29, remains held in the Canyon County Jail, and did not appear with his co-defendants.
All four defendants are charged with aggravated battery in the late-night attack March 16.
Authorities say the victim knew her attackers, but have not revealed a motive in the violent assault.
According to court documents, Brown lured the other woman out to Sunset Peak Road, then acted as a lookout while Baker, Bowie and Ivey slashed, cut and hit the victim.
The suspects then abandoned the badly injured victim on the roadside and drove away, according to Ada County Sheriff's Office.
Despite her serious injuries, which included a lacerated liver, cuts and stab wounds, the woman was able to make it to a house on Braemere Road, where the residents called 911 for help.
All four defendants were arrested March 18, and remain held on $250,000 bonds. Brown, Baker and Bowie are all due back in court April 11.
Ivey is facing other charges in Canyon County, but will be transported to Ada County to face the aggravated battery charges after those are taken care of according to prosecutors.
Bowie's attorney has asked for him to be sent to a state mental facility, telling the judge that Bowie had been found mentally incompetent to stand trial in a forgery case from January, in which he was accused of passing a counterfeit $100 bill.
Aggravated battery carries a possible 15-year prison sentence.
