Boise home burglary suspect barricaded self after resident held him at gunpoint, police say

The suspect barricaded himself in the furnace room after the resident of the home he was attempting to steal items from confronted him at gunpoint, police say.

BOISE, Idaho — Police arrested Khynndyl Lasley, 22, after he barricaded himself in the furnace room of the home he was attempting to burglarize, according to the Boise Police Department.

At approximately 2:30 a.m. Thursday, Boise Police were dispatched to a home on the 6000 block of W. Cassia Street for a "prowler call."

When officers arrived, they learned Lasley attempted to burglarize the home, according to police. They said home surveillance video showed Lasley walking up to the house, checking the door handle and opening the door before attempting to steal items from inside the house.

According to BPD, the homeowner confronted Lasley at gunpoint and commanded him to leave. That's when Lasley refused to leave, closed the door and barricaded himself in the furnace room until police arrived.

Officers set up a containment area outside the home and commanded Lasley to surrender, but he would not comply and remained barricaded in the room for an hour until officers executed a plan to safely open the door and get Lasley.

Boise police said responding officers used a "40 mm non-lethal round and deployed a K9" in order to arrest Lasley. The suspect was treated by paramedics for his injuries before being transported to the hospital for further treatment.

Lasley was then booked into the Ada County Jail on two charges:

  • Burglary (F), Arrests & Seizures
  • Resisting or Obstructing Officers (M)
