OWYHEE COUNTY, Idaho — Conservation officers with Idaho Fish and Game are asking the public for information after a cow elk was shot and left to waste in Owyhee County.
In a news release Monday, Idaho Fish and Game said the elk was shot off Blackstone Grasmere Road near Monument Butte on Sunday, Jan. 21. A witness reported seeing two men shoot at a herd of elk, then drive off before recovering the animal.
The men were reportedly wearing camouflage and driving a black two-door RZR at the time of the incident.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Citizens Against Poaching Hotline at 1-800-632-5999, the Nampa Regional Fish and Game Office at 208-465-8465, or conservation officer Lauren Howard at 208-616-4333.
Click here to report information through Idaho Fish and Game's online form. Those who report poaching activities can remain anonymous. A cash reward may be offered if the information provided leads to a citation for a wildlife crime.
