BOISE, Idaho — A 43-year-old Kuna man was sentenced to nine years in prison for trafficking methamphetamine into the Treasure Valley, said U.S. Attorney Josh Hurwit in a news release.

Court records indicate between Nov. and Dec. of 2023, Justin Pedersen distributed meth to another person on four occasions, totaling 309 grams of meth, said the news release

Law enforcement officers also searched Pedersen's residence and located an additional pound of meth, hidden within the walls of his residence.

Pedersen plead guilty in March of 2024 for the meth charge.

According to the news release, Pedersen has a long criminal history, including felony convictions for possession of a controlled substance, witness intimidation, and domestic battery with traumatic injury.

"Idaho enjoys strong partnerships between federal and local law enforcement and, together, we will continue to target and remove dangerous drug dealers from our communities," said U.S. Attorney Hurwit.  "If you deal drugs in Idaho, you will face the consequences."

Senior U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill ordered Pedersen to serve three years of supervised release following his prison sentence, according to the news release.

"I am grateful for the hard work of our federal partners, and specifically the Boise Police Department's narcotics detectives who work hard every day to target for investigation, those who facilitate the importation and sale of dangerous and deadly illegal substances in our community," said Boise Chief of Police Ron Winegar.

Hurwit praised the work of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Boise Police Department (BPD), and Boise Area Narcotics and Drug Interdiction Team, which led the charges.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Erin Blackadar prosecuted this case.
