Caldwell police investigating possible child enticement

Police said it happened Sunday and are looking for a Hispanic man between 30 and 40 years old.

CALDWELL, Idaho — According to the Caldwell Police Department (CPD), they are investigating a possible child enticement that happened Sunday, Oct 15 around 7:45 p.m. on N. Indiana Ave and Roosevelt St.

Police said a child noticed a car was following her while she was walking on Terrace Dr.

"When the child turned onto N. Indiana Avenue and stopped so did the car. The child thought the driver of the car was waiting for her to cross the road, so she did and began to go south on Indiana, turning east onto Roosevelt. The car pulled alongside her at that time, then pulled in front of her as if to cut her off. The driver then honked the horn at the child and started to turn the car around," a news release stated.

The girl then ran to the home of a nearby friend and police said she is safe.

CPD said the man was Hispanic and between 30 and 40 years old. The model of the car is not known but it is red with tinted windows.

Police are asking anyone with information to call call 208-343-COPS or non-emergency dispatch at 208-454-7531. The investigation is ongoing.

CPD offered the following tips parents should tell their children:

1. Never get in the car with a stranger.

2. Tell an adult if approached by a stranger.

3. If possible, walk in groups and not alone.
