Nampa police arrest, charge man for shooting into an occupied car

No one was injured. He has been charged with discharging a firearm into a vehicle, possession of a stolen gun and aggravated assault.

NAMPA, Idaho — Nampa Police arrested 51-year-old Stephan Emerson Leslie from Nampa, for allegedly shooting into an occupied car on Monday, Oct. 16 around 2:20 a.m. No one was injured.

Police said they received a call from a person sitting in their car in a parking lot who said a man walked up to his car and shot it. The victim was not hit but a bullet did hit the car.

"The victim watched the suspect walk to a nearby house and go inside. Because the residence the suspect went back to is just outside the city limits, the Canyon County Sheriff's Office was asked to respond to assist the Nampa police officers," a news release stated.

After investigating and taking statements, the police said they arrested Leslie and charged him with aggravated assault, possession of a stolen gun and discharging a firearm into a vehicle.

Police said they do not believe there are any threats to the public and the investigation is ongoing.

"The Nampa Police Department would like to thank the members of the Canyon County Sheriff's Office who responded to this call to assist us with additional resources and to ensure there were no questions about jurisdictional boundaries. Deputy Chief Curt Shankel said, "This is the type of teamwork that Treasure Valley law enforcement agencies are able to rely on and the additional help from CCSO in this situation was appreciated."
