BOISE, Idaho — A Boise man has been arrested and charged with two counts of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in injury or death, which is a felony. According to the Boise Police Department (BPD), 46-year-old Jacob Miller hit two women at 11th and Main St., in downtown Boise on Saturday June 29 around 9:30 p.m. and drove away. They are both in the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
“Last night the irresponsible actions of this individual caused serious injuries to two of our community members. We thank the many witnesses who acted quickly to provide immediate assistance and all those who have come forward with information on this tragic event. Our officers will continue to work with the community to strictly enforce the law, particularly as it relates to vulnerable road users in the downtown core. Please drive carefully as we all work to keep downtown Boise a safe place to be,” said BPD Captain Jim Quackenbush.
Police said Miller kept driving, hitting several cars, before he was stopped by police and taken into custody near E. Parkcenter Blvd. and Pennsylvania St., after several witnesses had followed him.
"Multiple roads were shut down as police investigated the large scene which occurred around the same time as another large event in downtown Boise was wrapping up. Drivers were asked to avoid Main Street and Idaho Street from 6th to 11th. A BPD Crash Reconstruction Team as well as the BPD Violent Crimes Unit responded to investigate. The roads are now open," stated BPD.
Miller was also taken to the hospital, released and booked into the Ada County Jail. Police say he could face additional charges.
BPD is also asking any witnesses to please come forward with any information they may have, and are asking all businesses in the accident scene to contact dispatch at 208 377 6790.
