California man arrested in Nampa for stalking, video voyeurism

Michael James Hernandez, 46, from Elk Grove, California was arrested on Feb. 27 after a lengthy investigation and many search warrants, said police.

NAMPA, Idaho — On Feb. 27, officers with Nampa Police Department's Special Enforcement Team and NPD Person's Crime Detectives arrested a California man for "repeated and increasingly volatile stalking behaviors," according to Nampa Police Department (NPD).

Michael James Hernandez, 46, from Elk Grove, California was arrested on Feb. 27 after a lengthy investigation and several search warrants, said police. Police were able to find Hernandez's stalking history by detailing the crimes through social media, phone records and other electronic devices over about a 4-year period.

Hernandez lives in California but has been in the Treasure Valley for the weeks leading up to his arrest in Nampa. Police also believe that he has been using an alias to stay in local motels.

Police are seeking more information regarding his whereabouts in the weeks leading up to Tuesday's arrest. Investigators ask anyone with information to contact NPD via Crime Stoppers at 208-343-COPS.
