Man crashes car into house in Eagle, tries to run

Police said no one was home but a teenage passenger in the car was treated for minor injuries. Matthew Jeffs was arrested with multiple charges.

EAGLE, Idaho — A man has been arrested with multiple charges after crashing his car into a house in Eagle. The Eagle Police Department (EPD), said they arrested Matthew Jeffs, a 27-year-old from Emmett after he tried to run from the crash. A passenger that police said was a teenage boy, stayed at the scene and had minor injuries. No one was in the house at the time.

Police said the crash happened on July 18 around 9 p.m., on the 100 block of E. Aikens St. According to witnesses, the driver of a white Ford Mustang ran immediately after the crash. They also said they found a firearm in the car.

Jeffs was found about a half a mile from the crash, was taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries and then booked into the Ada County Jail. He has been charged with felony injury to child, misdemeanor driving under the influence, misdemeanor leaving the scene of an accident, and misdemeanor carrying concealed weapons under the influence of alcohol.
