Homicide Update: Parma man died from gunshot at campground

The Canyon County Sheriff’s Office say 37-year-old Travis Haywood Calumpit from Parma was shot. Police are still looking for a suspect

PARMA, Idaho — A man has died at the Martin's Landing camping and recreation area near Parma, police are ruling it a homicide. Travis Haywood Calumpit, a 37-year-old from Parma died from a gunshot wound.

According to the Canyon County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), the department received a call about a man found unconscious and not breathing on July 12 around 9:30 p.m. 

“At this time, we do not have a suspect in custody,” said Sheriff Kieran Donahue. “While this appears to be an isolated incident, the public should remain cautious and be aware that criminality of a violent nature does exist in our society. As always, if you see something that seems suspicious or out of the ordinary, please don’t hesitate to contact law enforcement.”

CCSO said the man was approximately 40 years old.

"The CCSO crime lab and detectives responded to the scene. Based on the circumstances and evidence collected at the scene, the Sheriff’s Office is ruling it as a homicide," a news release stated.

Officers are asking anyone with information to contact CCSO at (208) 454-7531 or Crime Stoppers at 343-COPS.
