Man shot by police near Parma

Police aren’t releasing the 19-year-old suspects name but said he was taken to the hospital with “non-life-threatening injuries.”

PARMA, Idaho — According to the Caldwell Police Department (CPD), the Canyon County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) received a call about a suicidal subject at a home west of the city of Parma on Saturday, Oct. 21 around 2 a.m. The 19-year-old man attempted to drive away from police and was shot by an officer. Police said he was taken to the hospital with "with non-life-threatening injuries."

Police said when they located the man close to the Boise River and drove away he was pursued by Wilder and Parma police as well as CCSO. The chase ended at Wamstad and Lee Lane where the suspect was shot.

As no Caldwell Police were involved, the CPD is conducting an investigation, as is the custom following an officer involved shooting. The Canyon County Critical Incident Task Force (CITF) was also called.

Police told KTVB they cannot release any more information at this time regarding the suspect, the officer who shot him or the number of times the suspect was shot.

KTVB will update this story as information becomes available.
