BOISE — A man from Twin Falls serving life in prison for the murder of three of his children is dead from an apparent suicide, the Idaho Department of Correction has announced.
Jim Junior Nice, 46, was pronounced dead at 1:50 p.m. Sunday at the Idaho Maximum Security Institution from what appear to be self-inflicted wounds, IDOC public information officer Jeff Ray said.
Under IDOC policy, all unattended inmate deaths in the prison complex south of Boise are investigated by the Ada County Sheriff’s Office.
Nice was sentenced in November 2006 to three consecutive life terms for the murders of his twin six-year-old boys and his two-year-old daughter. In exchange for prosecutors taking the death penalty off the table, he had pleaded guilty to three counts of first-degree murder and agreed to not challenge his conviction or sentence.
He was also under investigation for the death of his cellmate in 2017.
