We also learned that he had been released from prison about seven months ago.

According to the Idaho Department of Correction, Martinez served time for possession of a controlled substance in Canyon County and escape out of Ada County.

We got several police reports detailing Martinez's criminal past.

One from 2005 says Martinez's wife reported that he elbowed her in the mouth and wouldn't let her leave the home.

Another from 2006 says Martinez's girlfriend reported that he shoved her into a fan, punched her in the face, pushed her out the door, and choked her with both hands. That report led at an attempted strangulation charge.

Another report from about a month later says Martinez physically abused a woman and her child.
