Motorist and 2 Meridian police officers injured after driver runs red light

Two officers were injured after a driver ran a red light. All three were taken to the hospital.

MERIDIAN, Idaho — A motorist and two Meridian Police Officers were taken to the hospital after the driver ran a red light. Meridian Police Department (MPD) stated that the crash happened on Monday, Nov. 4 around 11:40 a.m., at an intersection at Franklin Rd. 

"A silver Toyota Corolla, driven by a 19-year-old male traveling eastbound on Franklin Road, ran the red light and struck the police vehicle in the passenger side. This impact caused the police explorer to collide with a blue Chrysler 300, which was also traveling southbound," stated police.

MPD said that the officers are receiving treatment at a medical facility, and so is the driver of the Chrysler. 

Idaho State Police are investigating.
