BOISE, Idaho — The Mountain Home Police Department is searching for a suspect in an alleged homicide after a man was found dead on Tuesday in a motel room.
Police on Wednesday said officers found the man while responding to Thunderbird Motel on Sunset Strip for a welfare check of a missing person Tuesday. Police believe the incident was a homicide based on initial evidence.
The suspect, identified as 58-year-old Brian M. McGehee, took the victim's vehicle and his whereabouts are unknown. Mountain Home Police said the vehicle McGehee is believed to be driving is a grey 2010 Mazda XC9 with Idaho license plate E0688U.
McGehee has ties to the Seattle area. Police urge the public to use caution as the suspect could be armed and dangerous.
Anyone with information on McGehee's location is asked to contact their local law enforcement office. Detective Sergeant Robert Lakeman and Detective Jay Corea with the Mountain Home Police Department can be reached at 208-587-2101 for other inquires.
The victim's identity will be released by the Elmore County Coroner's Office at a later time.
