BOISE, Idaho — A couple that Boise police contacted as part of a shoplifting investigation also face drug possession and injury to a child charges.
Police say they found heroin and meth within reach of three children who were riding in a van with 38-year-old JD Evans and 31-year-old Hailey Evans -- both from Nampa.
A search also turned up three stolen credit cards.
Before the search, officers had gone to speak with JD Evans in a parking lot on Fairview Avenue near Maple Grove Road at about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday. He was a suspect in a shoplifting incident from earlier in the day at a store on State Street.
The three children -- all under the age of six -- were taken into state custody.
Hailey Evans is charged with felony possession of a controlled substance - two counts, grand theft - three counts, and injury to a child - three counts. She also faces two misdemeanors -- possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
