NAMPA - A student at Nampa High School was arrested Wednesday morning after the school district said he took an unloaded gun to school.
The school district said school administration and school resource officers located the 17-year-student and arrested him.
The arrest was made without conflict, and there was no disruption at the school, the district said.
The incident happened at around 11 a.m.
The teen told officials that he was involved in an altercation off campus earlier in the week, and that he brought the handgun for his own safety.
"We appreciate our strong partnership with our SROs to quickly investigate reports and work to keep our students safe," said Nampa High School Principal Byron Holtry,
