BOISE — A Nampa man convicted of stabbing two people at a Boise nightclub last year will spend at least 25 years in prison for his crimes.

Prosecutors say Garcia got in an altercation with two men at China Blue, a club in downtown Boise, early on the morning of Jan. 14, 2017. He pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed them repeatedly.

One of the men, Daviel Ruiz-Gomez, 21, later died at the hospital from his injuries. The other victim was stabbed in the abdomen but survived.

Garcia admitted to police that he had been using meth before the attack. Some drugs were found in his possession.

Fourth District Judge Michael Reardon ordered Garcia to serve 25 years to life for the charge of second-degree murder. Six years plus 14 for the aggravated battery and weapons enhancement, and three years fixed for the possession charges. The sentences for the other counts will all be served concurrent to the murder sentence.
