NAMPA, Idaho — The Nampa Police Department (NPD) said two suspects were arrested and a police K-9 has died following a car chase and crash that happened on Saturday. Sept. 21 around 5:45 p.m. Tanner Lucas Howe from Caldwell and Stephanie Ann Kettermann from Kuna are in custody.
According to NPD their dispatch received a call that 27-year-old was on his way to sell illegal drugs and that he was on parole. Police said they found the vehicle he was reportedly in and attempted to pull it over.
"Officers noticed the vehicle was driven by a female adult and not Mr. Howe. When attempting to perform a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT Maneuver), the suspect vehicle turned into the police vehicle, ramming it, and causing both vehicles to roll and leave the roadway and land in a corn field. Nampa Fire and Canyon County Paramedics were dispatched to the scene near Ustick and Polara Way," NPD said.
Kettermann, 33, was taken to the hospital, treated and taken into custody. The officer involved in the crash was also treated and released at a hospital, however, Riddick, the K-9, died from his injuries.
After the crash, Howe ran and following a search that lasted several hours, police located him at a gas station and arrested him.
Kettermann is charged with felony battery on law enforcement, felony eluding, felony trafficking meth, felony possession schedule 2 controlled substance, misdemeanor possession psilocybin mushrooms, misdemeanor possession schedule 4 controlled substance and misdemeanor possession paraphernalia. NPD said Howe was arrested on a parole agent's warrant. Both are in the Ada County Jail.
There will be a memorial service held for Riddick at a later date.
