ONTARIO, Ore -- An Ontario man who seriously injured a woman with an ax earlier this year was sentenced to seven-and-a-half years in prison Wednesday.

Ian Thaddeus Inger, 43, will not have a chance at parole.

Inger was arrested in January after an argument with his girlfriend, 42-year-old Nora Horn, turned violent. Ontario Police say Inger struck Horn with an ax and an aluminum baseball bat, shattering her jaw and fracturing her skull.

Horn was also struck on her neck, stomach and shoulder with the ax. Police say Inger also attacked Horn's daughter, 24-year-old Leann Beeson.

Horn was taken to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, where she received surgery for her injuries. Inger was arrested and charged with attempted murder.

In addition to the prison time, Inger was ordered to pay $1,500 in restitution. He will spend three years on probation after his release from prison.
