Coroner identifies man shot, killed on Christmas Day in Boise

The Ada County Coroner on Wednesday said the 38-year-old Garden City man died in the hospital from multiple gunshot wounds. His manner of death was ruled a homicide.

BOISE, Idaho — A 38-year-old man who died in the hospital following a shooting Monday night in Boise was identified Wednesday by the Ada County Coroner's Office

David Pistole of Garden City died from multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead in the operating room at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, according to Ada County Coroner Richard D. Riffle. Pistole's manner of death was ruled a homicide.

The Boise Police Department on Tuesday said officers responded to a shooting report on West Pomona Court in Boise around 7:30 p.m. on Christmas and located an injured man. Pistole was taken to the hospital by Ada County Paramedics, where he died later Monday after lifesaving measures were unsuccessful.

Initial evidence indicates multiple people were involved in a domestic dispute inside a home prior to the shooting, according to Boise Police. Officials said there is no threat to the public.

Detectives with the Boise Police Violent Crime Unit and its Crime Lab also responded to the home Monday night after the scene was secured. Tuesday's news release said police are working with the Ada County Prosecutor's Office and the incident remains under investigation.

Boise Police said more information will be released as it is confirmed.
