Second person arrested in connection to 2022 Nampa murder

The Canyon County Sheriff's Office told KTVB that Manuel Santana, 34, was the second person arrested in connection to the murder of 20-year-old Issac Bernal.

BOISE, Idaho — A second person has been arrested in connection to the murder of 20-year-old Issac Bernal, which happened in November 2022 in Nampa.

The Canyon County Sheriff's Office told KTVB on Thursday that 34-year-old Manuel Santana, who is currently being held at IDOC on unrelated charges, will face charges in connection to the murder.

Santana will be transported to the Canyon County Jail, and law enforcement will serve him a 1st-degree homicide warrant related to the shooting, authorities said. 

As previously reported, the first person to be arrested in connection to the murder was 41-year-old Olivia Hernandez. The Canyon County Sheriff's Office told KTVB she was arrested in Potter County, Texas, and was extradited to Idaho. She is in police custody. 

As previously reported on Nov. 26, 2022, at around 11:30 p.m., police were called to a location close to 17000 N. Pegram Way in Nampa regarding a shooting. According to a press release from Nampa Police Department, officers found a 20-year-old man who had been shot upon arrival.

Police stated officers performed medical aid, but the man died at the scene.

Days later, the Ada County Coroner's Office identified the man as Bernal, and he died from the gunshot wound.

According to the Canyon County Sheriff's Office, Hernandez is facing charges of aiding and abetting murder and accessory to felony harboring. 

The case is still under investigation.
