Man arrested after reports of shots fired, altercation with police in Nyssa

Nyssa Police said no one was shot or seriously injured, the man is in custody and they are investigating.

NYSSA, Ore. — The Nyssa Police Department (NPD) arrested a man after responding to a report of shots fired. Police said no one was shot or seriously injured but the man is in custody.

According to the NPD, an officer responded to a call about shots being fired on the 500 block of Park Avenue on Sunday, Feb. 18 around 4 p.m. Police said when they arrived the suspect ran into their house. Law enforcement from Oregon State Police, the NPD and the Malheur County Sheriff's Office were called and the man was arrested. 

Nyssa Police Chief Donald Ballou told KTVB on Monday, Feb. 19 that the man was still in custody, the department had executed a search warrant on the man's home and they are still investigating why he had been firing a gun.
