BOISE -- An Oregon man is facing multiple felony charges after a long-term police investigation.

Twenty-five-year-old Rory Taylor Wetzel of Ontario was arrested early Saturday morning outside a bar on West Idaho Street.

Police say Wetzel was the focus of an investigation into the sale of ketamine and MDMA in the Treasure Valley.

Ketamine, which is typically used as an anesthetic before surgery or other medical procedures, has gained traction as a recreational drug in recent years. Still, it is not common in the Boise area, police say.

In high doses, the drug can cause delirium, amnesia, impaired motor function, high blood pressure, depression, and potentially fatal breathing problems. Police are urging anyone with information on local sales of the drug to call Crime Stoppers at 343-COPS.

Wetzel is charged with four charges of manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance. If convicted, he could face up to life in prison. He is due to appear in court Monday afternoon.
