TWIN FALLS, Idaho -- Two men were arrested Thursday following an armed robbery at a bank and a wild car chase through town.
The suspects, wearing hooded sweatshirts and handkerchiefs over their faces, held up a teller at First Federal Savings Bank on Blue Lakes Boulevard at about 11 a.m., police said. After displaying guns and demanding cash, the men fled on bicycles before getting into a vehicle.
Police, going on tips from witnesses, were able to quickly locate the vehicle and a pursuit ensued.
The pursuit lasted about ten minutes and crisscrossed around town, according to police spokesman Josh Palmer. The suspects' car caused damage to fences and other property as it drove through a residential area.
Eventually, one suspect got out of the car in the parking lot of a Lowe's store and tried running away on foot, but was surrounded by officers and arrested. Police say they found a handgun and cash on the suspect.
Meanwhile, the second suspect stayed in the car and the chase continued. He eventually drove to Lawndale Drive, where he got out of the car and ran into a home.
After determining there was no one else inside, police entered the home and arrested the suspect. Officers say they retrieved a modified shotgun that was used in the robbery.
Twin Falls High School and Sawtooth Elementary School were both put into lockdown for a time during the chase. The lockdowns were lifted a little before 2 p.m.
The names of the suspects and the charges they will face have not yet been released.
