BOISE, Idaho — Shortly after midnight Thursday, officers with the Twin Falls Police Department responded to a call in the 400 block of Hankins Road after reports of gunshots, according to a news release.
When officers arrived to the scene, they found a 38-year-old man armed with a rifle. Police said one of the responding officers shot the man after the situation "escalated."
Twin Falls Police said the man was wounded in the shooting and taken to a regional trauma center with injuries. The extent of his injuries are not known as of Thursday afternoon.
No officers were injured in the shooting, and those involved have been placed on paid administrative leave, as per Twin Falls Police policy.
The Critical Incident Task Force (CITF) will be investigating the incident, and Cassia County Sheriff's Office will be the investigation lead. Twin Falls County Prosecutor Grant Leobs has assigned the CITF investigation to the Ada County Prosecutor's Office as they have an existing relationship, according Thursday's news release.
